Discovering growth opportunities
When pharmacies offer high-quality services, patients and the entire healthcare system benefit. During McKesson ideaShare 2019, you and your team members will be surrounded by opportunities to better manage and grow your business.
Make a plan
Because McKesson ideaShare is so large and has so much to offer, once you arrive you might find the conference session schedule, the tradeshow floor and even networking opportunities to be overwhelming.
So before arriving in Orlando, make a plan.
You can use the online “Build My Schedule” capability to filter education session options by area of interest or by the person’s role in the pharmacy. You can quickly identify sessions that focus on:
- Bringing in new patients
- Expanding services
- Gaining network access
- Managing your business
- Buying or selling a pharmacy
Pick CE sessions that will make a difference
Here are eight top subjects among more than 40 continuing education sessions that allow you to earn CE credit during ideaShare:
- Align diabetes care to new standards. Review the American Diabetes Association’s 2019 goals for glycemic control, blood pressure and lipid management. Then, identify interventions to help each patient reach those outcomes.

- Counsel on OTC and DME. Prove your value by assessing patients, helping them select products, counseling on use and following up.
- Recommend appropriate vaccines. Know the latest recommendations for adult and child immunizations, and be prepared for the 2019–20 flu season. Understand mid-adult vaccination for HPV (human papillomavirus) and indirect effects of the pneumonia vaccine.
- Be the DME destination for all ages. Injuries, surgery and rehabilitation can lead to patients needing durable medical equipment. Master the policies, procedures, accreditation and billing for a successful DME department.
- Target nutrient depletion. Be confident in identifying medications that could cause nutrient depletion, laboratory results that show deficiencies, and appropriate supplements.
- Take travel services to a new level. Don’t just add travel vaccines to your immunization services. Offer complete care from pre-travel consultation to medications and complementary products that keep travelers well.
- Work with providers. Providers are feeling the financial impact of quality measures. That means they are more willing to listen to pharmacist recommendations for therapy changes. Discover how to identify physicians in value-based contracts and what measures are most important to them so you can collaborate in improving care.
- Capture the value of quality performance. Improve adherence and other measures of patient care quality by integrating that mission into your culture and workflow. Seize the opportunities for value-based reimbursement.
